Heres a quick tut for the List for those you asking how to or for those that don't want to download any additional software. I've currently only used this method on .avi, .mpg, .mpeg, .divx, etc... for others you'll just have to experiment! Firstly1. In the files folder go to Tools. 2. Go to Folder Options 3. Go to VIEW in the Folder Options 4. Then scroll down and UNcheck the option that states "Hide extensions for known file types" Heres the Process1. Make a copy of the file in your Zune folder (not necessary, but it keeps your original copy unharmed). 2. Rename the file to a .wmv file 3. Load it into Zune Soft' 4. Once in library, rename the copied file to its original format i.e. "mpg ... or mpeg" 5. Sync to Zune 6. Unplug Zune and enjoy video no additional software required

There is already a mod to make the zune software accept avi etc files I did it. That way you don't need to mess with renaming every time.

right click on it, properties. When that screen comes up, just put .wmv and the end on the file name.

Wow!, Worked good. Quicker than Windows media encoder! The only problem i have is that it stretched the image, (widescreen to fullscreen). Ive never had that problem before since all the movies ive converted were already in the 4:3 aspect ratio. Does the Zune Software always do that?

Doesn't work
I followed it step by step, but once I load it into my Zune, it says the file is "0 seconds" and it doesn't work.
Wtf?

I can't find it right now, but someone made a reg hack. I added the reg key and now I can drag avi's to my sync window and the zune software converts them.
I found like 10 posts that say it can't be done while searching, it can be done!

I'm probably just retarded but when I try this method with an .avi file I get the "...one or more codecs may be required to convert the file could not be found" error. With a .mpg file the error is "... cannot convert the file to the format required by the Zune device"
Any help would be appreciated and I'm sorry if I missed something obvious...

It will say "0 Secs" in your library... go to your zune and see if it plays! I can't find it right now, but someone made a reg hack. I added the reg key and now I can drag avi's to my sync window and the zune software converts them.

I had no additional codecs. You shouldn't need any b/c ZM recognizes these files as WMV after renaming. Try it again, remember once you've gotten the WMV file into your Zune Library, go back to the file and rename it its original format.

Shut the darn up you faggot. TC offered a simple way to get your Zune to allow different types of files without trying to mess around searching google for some mod that a random punk-Ass-canine mentioned in a forum. Nobody thinks you're cool.
