lol..   ok I'm in a good mood today.  Some MS employee gave me the inside scoop on Zune 2.0 and the flash Zune.  He had NO IDEA i run zunescene.  He should have got a clue cause we were just talking and then I actually screamed outloud when he told me he was working on the zune.  Till then I didnt even know he as a MS employee.  I'll be spilling the beans this evening on the homepage.

I mean the second Zune with HDD.  He called it Zune 2.0.  He's not with marketing so he didn't know if that was the marketing name.  He only knew the hardware.  Which is better to know anyway.

This is purely speculation, but if they're already "working on" a "Zune 2.0", and it's not a firmware upgrade, it sounds to me like all us people who bought the Zune are just ship out of luck.  They're already making a new revision of the device and half the features on the ones we have don't even work.

It's worse than you think.  THey are not working on 2.0.  It's done.  Of course it's not mass produced yet.  You have to have a good lead time to make a ton of them.

That really pisses me off.  I JUST bought my Zune this weekend.  So correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this mean that there aren't going to be any more firmware updates for the 1st Zune?  Because if so, I'm taking it back.

This actually says nothing about the first Zune.  THey can still update the crap out of it.  Why not?

to be fair, you waited pretty late in the rev 1 product cycle to even buy a zune... hard to say if "zune" really has any news. but likely when a new full HDD zune is released, that will spell the near end of any firmware updates for previous zune owners. that's da business, microsoft style...

I'm actually pretty sure that every feature they promised the Zune would have it has. And I'm pretty sure that for 99% of users they all work.

True, you have to expect a product cylcle of 6-12 months for these things.  That's how iPod is.
