Firmware Update 1.4: Today
Today at 10:00 am PT, we'll be releasing Firmware Update 1.4. This update (it's firmware only; software is still 1.3) brings an improved shuffle experience. For those slightly more technical readers, the direct word from the dev team: "this firmware update makes successive shuffle actions produce more random lists."

If you've been following this blog, then you probably know that the team at Zune is continually working to improve Zune - and this update is another step in that direction.

Ok, take care everybody!

Awesome! The lack of randomness on the shuffle always bothered me.

WTF!!! a bug fix doesn't deserve this .1 incremental upgrade. I will pass unless something new besides this is ADDED OR FIXED. Period.

Guess we're not going to get any other major updates re: "big things for Zune in May" or even the rumored June 1 announcement...

 Sad

Really rediculous question.

Just got my zune the other day and in the middle of the software installation, my net connection was lost with the firmware only partially downloaded.  I was wondering if there was a way to download the firmware update within the zune software.

To all who will complain:

Would you rather have nothing at all? I'm sure they could have waited to keep this feature until they had more than just this to add. Would you have like that better?

We have more now than we did before. Why does everyone have to be such a whiny "female canine" (rediculous filters) about firmware updates?

Oh heaven forfend that Microsoft should release a fix for a flawed function, then have the utter gall to actually change the number of their product's firmware ID to denote the change.

You know what you need........a clock.

1. A lot of mumbo jumbo as always. this should have been 1.3.1. Next ?
2. Look for any post around here from me. then comeback and tell ppl around here since when I need a clock on a DAP ?

Why do I get the feeling that all people who are happy about these
so called firmware updates consist of 3/4's of the zune team while the rest of us , who look at this most recent disapointment are customers who want to get what they paid for and are pissed for a legitimate reason ,and that reason is we havent got what we WERE  promised. Look at PS3 I hate the product but how many updates has it gotten? ALL INCLUDING NEW FEATURES AS WELL AS NOTICIABLE CHANGES, not some shuffle update , this is seriously a joke, what does that fat lil bastard cesar actually do all day besides posting comments praising THIS ALL MIGHTY BRICK under psuedo names on blogs, if I didnt hate apple so much id buy an ipod , instead ill wait for a GOOD player to come out , and when it does , look forward to a video link from me when i post , and in that video you will see me + either an explosive, and hammer, or some VERY creative way of destroying this P.o.S hardware, in the mean time im thinking of a way to get cesar to come to my town and convincing him to bend over to I can insert it into his a$$, and say "here you chubby little bastard shuffle this....."

This is better labeled Firmware 1.1.3.  "Improving Stability" for the last 3 firmware updates doesn't count in my book.

the reason I want a clock is purely because I want a sleep timer.  I listen to music before falling asleep usually, and sometimes I'll fall asleep while the song is on.  It's not good for my ears to be hearing music for all those hours, not to mention the battery is almost drained when I wake up.  And I don't have time to charge it before catching the bus.

But I'm learning to live.

At least there's an update.  It's definitely better than them completely forgetting about us.

If you are so un happy with your Zune, send it my way I will give it a good home.
