$5 on apple winning it all. rediculous pc magazine, i doubt they'll even consider the archos 705 or any other manufacturer.

They mention Archos in the review.

From the review: "Naysayers will have their gripes: there's no FM radio and no recording capability of any sort. The Archos line, for instance, has gigantic screens with programmable video recording capabilities. Those players, however, require expensive accessories to complete the task, have much less friendly user interfaces, and offer a far less sophisticated Web browsing experience. In fact, the Archos 605 WiFi requires you buy the Opera browser plug-in."

hmmm must have missed that little bit. i admit, i did skim it.
regardless, i can pretty much guarantee that the itouch wins.
and the zune isnt a pmp, its a dap/pmp hybrid.
i wish the iriver w10 would come out already, that would show them.

The Archos IS a good device. I'd even go so far as to call it a great device. Unfortunately, for all its greatness, it makes a poor everyday user. It's too big and cumbersome for use anywhere. In the bring-everywhere device category, the iPod Touch blows the Archos out of the water.
That said, I'm still considering buying one for my frequent (very frequent) 7+hour trips up to Canada, because it has that huge display, and is OS agnostic, which is friggin great. I don't care about its web capabilities, as I only use the internet on my laptop.

not necessarily saying the archos was the best, but i imagine it doesnt matter what the competition has, as pc magazine will declare the itouch winner by default.
the itouch is barely a pmp itself, a pmp is genreally considered something like the cowon a2/a3 or an archos 605 or something.

PMP = Portable Media Player.
The iTouch is certainly a PMP. The zune is a PMP too, by virtue of it's picture and video playback.

The Touch looks better and better every day. Then I think about the size limitation and it brings me back to reality. I love the Zune... but man, that temptation is great...

Not sure why you wouldn't consider the Zune a PMP given it's decent-sized screen being touted as better for viewing video. Even the Zune's web site calls Zune a digital media player. So unless you're implying it's too big to be portable, it would seem the Zune is indeed a pmp.

There's no such thing as a DAP/PMP hybrid. Either abbreviation is applicable to mobile music and video players, it's just that PMP umbrellas over all kinds of media at once, whereas DAP just covers audio. Why oh why is this even a discussion?!

It's confusing because PMP can also mean Peed My Pants, and DAP more often than not means Dig Another Pony.

And I thought I'd point out this tidbit from the review, which will probably cause many of you to dump your Zunes for an iPod Touch: "Other extra features on the touch include a snazzy clock interface (which makes it incredibly easy—and kind of fun—to set time zones, hours, and minutes) . . . "

LOL @ the reviewer's professional choice of word reviewing the included Touch earbuds "CONS Can't purchase video via WiFi. Earbuds suck. Can't turn off Starbucks feature. "
