^^uh...the Zune got a 7...the iTouch got an 8...Cheesy
quality issues with the screen...crippled features (like the Zune's WiFi )...low capacity for a video player...no bluetooth...not-so-good SQ...

So this quote would be ... wrong then, yes? Unless you meant it to indicate that the Zune was a slightly BIGGER POS.

* Ricardo Dawkins still waiting for iTouch review on Ars...that will be the review to really put that POS back to earth.

Am I the only one that thinks this focus on the numerical value of the product review scale is rediculous?

LOL ... too true. Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking.

Then again, basing your opinion on any single review isn't the smartest move either ...especially when the review of choice disagrees.

8 greater than 7 by 1. Not enough for the 200 USD differences minus half capacity...screen issues and such... Cheesy

^^ by a slim margin...is like saying "Tiger Woods beating his Airness on a golf course" by 1 point.

BTW, if you mean greater than the Zune in price...I agree and can't complain...Cheesy

Actually, since the difference is around 12%, your golf analogy should be Tiger winning by 8 strokes (assuming he shot a 68). It's also like winning a basketball game 100 to 88 or a football game 35 to 30. Not exactly nail-biters.

still, an overpaid and young star with quality issues (the i_touch) can't beat an old, clunky and past primitime star (the Zune) by a landslide...Cheesy
change the Touch for Woods and Zune for Jordan..where necessary ...

No, not by a landslide. But your post inferred that it won by a whisker and that is not correct either.

But it DID beat it. Ars says so, so it must be true right?

Or do you not trust Ars anymore because they disagreed with you? After all, Ars didn't point out any significant "quality issues" ...

This is from Walt Mossberg who has until recently been notorious for knocking anything Apple:

http://ptech.allthingsd.com/20070920/apples-ipod-touch-is-a-beauty-of-a-player-short-on-battery-life

The company claims that the Touch can play music for up to 22 hours and video for up to five hours on a single battery charge, even with Wi-Fi turned on. But in my tests, using factory settings, music playback lasted just under 17 hours and video playback lasted just over four hours. Nearly every other iPod I’ve tested, including the new Nano, handily beat Apple’s battery claims.

Also, some early iPod Touch units have had defective screens, where images appeared too dark. Apple says this problem affected a small number of units and is being remedied. My two test units displayed beautiful images.

Despite these downsides, the Touch is a great media player, and the iPod remains the best end-to-end portable solution for playing and purchasing music and video.

***

This is why I felt like a cheating husband who returned to his wife and begged forgiveness after going back to the iPod.

Your correction makes even less sense ...

So you're saying that he notoriously praises Apple, at least until recently, and then comes out with this good review? Perhaps your comprehension of grammar is different than the one on this planet ...

Are you trying to suggest that Tiger Woods is an overpaid sportsman with quality issues, and that Jordan is primitive? You have no knack for metaphors my friend.

So, what you're saying is that one product is a joke because a tech-rag didn't give it a higher score with a wider margin over another product?

On that note, I'd like to see Jordan try to be Tiger Woods in a game of golf.

Actually, all Olympic events involve gold. The winner gets one.

But since you most likely meant "golf" ... I submit that rhythmic gymnastics (with the ball, the ribbon and such) and ice dancing are still Olympic events. Are they major "sports" on your planet?

Actually, the problem with your analogy is that you're equating the opinion of a tech site with the worth of sports stars. In my country, golf is a sport, whether or not it's an active sport in your country does not negate the fact that it is a sport.

I have the same discussion with a golfer here...I really think it isn't one. It some type of entertainment but not an sport.

Have you seen any golf player having career ending injuries....? really ?
if so, I think they can still play golf on the computer and have the same boring experience. Later
no more golf for me or bowling for the fact.
