Nov 7th, 2007 - I will be calling both Zune customer support and Microsoft, seeing if I can talk to anyone or get a phone number as to who within Microsoft I need to ask permission from. I will be video recording this and if possible have it up here later today or possibly tomorrow.
I am currently looking up the legal side of changing my name. And if you haven't guessed yet yes I do wish to change my name to....
(drum roll)
Microsoft (First name)
and
Zune (Last Name)
To squash naysayers what I have read so far is that you can change your name to a trademarked name or to a company name as long as you are not benefiting from it or doing it to harm the company in any way.
Anywho continue to read this thread if you are interested because I will be updating it and possibly having video of my quest. Also if I get what I want and this goes through I will be changing all my important documents over to my "new name". So look back sometime for a Iowa driver's license with my new name, lol.
Update: I was contacted today from Laptopmag.com and they want to take recent photos of my current tattoos so they can publish my story in their January issue, I assume would be sold in December.

I am 100% serious about this, just like I am about my Zune tattoos. I think this will make for some fun video podcasts showing my quest from day 1 until all the changes are final. I can't wait until someone asks me... "Hi my name is John and your name would be?" "Microsoft, Microsoft Zune." |

Have your wife change her name to Awesome.
Then her name will be Awesome Zune.
Or have her change her first and middle names to iPod and Killer: (complete with the colon!) so her name will be iPod Killer: Zune.

Do you know what steps they had to go through? It would help me a lot. I was going to start calling the Iowa Courthouse and such until I get some offical who knows the steps but if you can save me some boring phone calls that would rock. |

You know, I actually don't know exactly how she did it but I assume she took the same route as anyone else who wanted to change their name. Sorry I can't be of more assistance...and good luck, Mr. Zune.

I think if you look on some gov't sites you might find the info you need.
Some people just change it, nothing to it. They apply for a drivers license and get it. One guy changed his name to Jesus Christ and got a license.
