I spent 2 hours trying to set up my Zune.  For some reason, my computer was super slow in recognizing that it was connected, then when it found the Zune, nothing happened.  I called tech support and they had me try a few steps.  30 min later, he told me to use a rear port instead of the front port.  Apparently, some PCs' front USB ports do not supply enough power to properly connect to the Zune.  As soon as I plugged it into a rear port, everything ran smoothly.

Good post ziffbam ~

I think you may have saved thousands of people from unnecessary frustration. I'd give you some MS points of something equivelent, but zune hasn't vested those powers to me yet.  Cheesy

I ran in to the same problem last night. Took me a while to figure it out. I could sync maybe 20 or so song and it'd lock up and I'd have to restart the Zune software and the player. Works great when plugged in to the back though.

Same, cuz my 60GB iPod used to work in the front port.

Well there is a fix if your running a low powered or low speed computer processor.  You can go out and buy a shorter USB cable (22'' or under) and this will supply sufficient power to your ZUNE.  only about $5 for the cable anywhere.

Excellent Find!  My Zune was plugged into the front of my PC, though... odd. Never less, this is great!
