Well...I upgraded this morning and two things stick out to me:
1) the new firmware seems to be slower then 1.4- the transitions between menus seem a lot slower
2) I don't like the fact you have to import music into your library before you can sync it to your zune. Before I could just drag files from anywhere on the computer or cd, usb drive etc. Now it appears you have to drag the files to your library first and then sync to the Zune.

I've not upgraded the firmware yet, but it could be that the files were in wmv format, but of the incorrect resolution

I guess I just have to get used to it like I did the old one.
EXACTLY! Um... hello? It's not the same software! Of course it's going to be DIFFERENT! Get used to it. A buncha whiners in this thread. It's pretty sad that you do not have the discernment to differentiate between good change and bad change. There are some changes to the new software that are just flat out bad.

My Zune-optimized .wmv files (320x240) sync as quickly as they did under the older software.Yes... syncing is now slower.

hmm.. I love it. It feels fresh and new... like a shiny new car. No hiccups with the software [on my work and home laptops], firmware updated very fast. Kudos to MS for such a great job. PLUS I got to keep my preset EQs.
How do I find the Camo background?

Anybody have a solution for the TV Shows video section being messed up? Issue is that on 1.4 you would use an external meta data editor to change the video type to TV Show and then the videos had two specific meta data tags, video title and episode title. If i was importing, say .Hack//SIGN anime i would apply the title ".Hack//SIGN" to the video title for all the videos i'm wanting to import and sync to my zune. Then I set the appropriate episode data for each episode. This way, when I view the TV Shows directory on my zune, the videos would say .Hack//SIGN and under it in smaller text say "27 episodes". You click inside it and it shows you all 27 episodes.
On the new firmware, it doesn't do this at all. It just lists all the episodes out as loose videos. When I label episodes I label them in order by appending 01, 02, 03 to the beginning of each episode name. So if I have 5 seasons of different shows, all the first episodes from every tv show shows up together instead of being a folder with the show title.
ARGH!!! Anybody know of a way to fix this? I haven't tried resyncing my videos yet as I was doing this before I left for work.

I personally really like the new rating system, much less though time consuming as I used to take a lot of time with my ratings.

Well - since I did this from the provided "Check for Updates" option in the Zune software then - No. This also has absolutely nothing to do with the meta-tag mis-labeling of audio files, or the re-architecture of the video section to essentially ignore all meta-tag information. (Both of these together seem to be about 90% of the issues that people are having)

Yep... that's the procedure to "nuke" the library database. Unfortunately it isn't a simple matter of a corrupted database (which is what I initially suspected) but an issue of the Zune software incorrectly interpreting and adding albums to the library. That fix isn't going to help.

I'm working through the mess myself ... and, for my particular case, this workaround helped quite a bit.
This + mp3tag + my own diligence = approaching a clean library
YMMV
