Alright... I called tech support today to see if I could force the Zune software to install on Vista RC1, (which my system runs exclusively).

He looked it up for me, and told me they are working on a driver for vista, but it's incomplete at this point.

Major bummer... I had to take my external HD to a friends computer to dump my music on the Zune.

Anyone found a way around this? (Through compatiblity modes, etc)

Same with RC2, but the Vista RTM is available on MSDN this Friday the 17th.  Hopefully they would have a version for it by then!!

I run Server 2003 at work, and Vista RC2 at home for dev... double whammy!!  I had to pull an old XP laptop home to get anything onto the device.  Not expecting that hassle with the new device!

So with the tagged file format, does that mean we are never going to see a simple mass storage driver for the Zune?

Please anyone update if they find anything. my zune gets here on tuesday and I'm running RC1.  If a fix isn't coming soon I'll go back to XP.

Vista RTM and Business are available now.  I just downloaded our copy (it took 9 hours).

This is kinda lame - the only versions of Vista that are final are a couple of the Business ones, and the Zune obviously isn't designed for use in a business environment.

"Hey Jennings, why don't you stop by and get me one of those Zune devices when you're out at Office Max buying staples, pens, and ledger pads. I want to rock out with my cock out to Windows Vista Business Ed and some l33t tr4x on my extremely work-related MP3 player!"

The final release (in January) should be compatible with the Zune, MS actually said it wasn't working on RC2 (actual version wich isn't the final one) but they were working on making the Zune software compatible with the Zune. But you still have 3 months left before it is released.

So has anyone actually tried it? If so what were the errors? (either RTM or RC2)
