Has anyone heard from Tech support on this issue? Just wondering if there was any update.

Sorry I am just bumping this up. I am curious if Zune tech has gotten back to anyone on this issue?? I certainly don't want to try to call them again about it because I would have to explain it all over again. The skipping has become really really annoying.

I received an update from Zune support to try:

http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite/en/indivit.asp

This will take awhile to go through all of the below steps and to see if it fixes the problem, but I thought I would update the forum.  So,

1)I am upgrading the DRM with the above link
2)Restore the Library through Account Management in the Zune software (this takes a long while if you have many songs)
3)Erase Zune
4)Resynch after the entire library's DRM is restored (step 2 above)

Cool.  Thanks for the info.  Let us know how it turns out.  I'm getting tired of the skip issue!

Yeah let me know if it works. I have 2500 songs on my zune and it takes 2.5 hours if I were to resync it all. If anyone tries it please let me know.

After 6 hours of waiting for the restore library to complete and then resynching the Zune, I have been listening for 60 minutes and NO skipping!  My skipping problem was occuring at the rate of every other song before the update!

I'll be playing the Zune until the battery dies, let's see if the fix is for real.  At the moment, it is real and will probably be in the next firmware release within the next couple of weeks.  Yay!

Why wait for a firmware update?  I think I'll give it a try now.

So.. did you DELETE all of your music from your computer before you restore your library? Because when I go to restore mine it doesn't show me all of my music.

No, I did not delete any music.  I used Restore Library only.  All of my music is from Zune Marketplace and paid for with the Zune Pass, so all my music appeared there, I believe.

Hmm. My "Restore Music" only shows 3 CD's.. where I know I have over 100 in my library.

How many times have you restored your music today? Month?  If today, the rest will be downloading in the background.  Month? There might be limits to how many times you can restore in a period. Did you buy all of your music through Zune Marketplace?

The "Restore Library" button looks at your library and compares it to the list of songs which you have downloaded. Therefore, if you did not delete any music.. there should be nothing in the restore music library. Mine shows me 3 CD's I personally deleted because they were edited.

I could see if you perhaps DELETE your library before you do this that you could see all of your music in that area. But they said they didn't. So I guess I am lost on this fix.

In my case, support said that after updating the DRM the restore was updating the DRM for every song.  All of this DRM talk is new to me. Smiley  All I know is that my music has not skipped since I finished this process hours ago.

I originally posted the above.  After about 4 hours of play, I have found the fix to have cured the skipping issue.  On occasion, I do hear a single "burp" near the beginning of some songs.  Anyone else hear the burp who has tried the above in trying to fix the skipping problem?

Crap.  It was working so well and played the Zune almost until the battery was dead last night.  Charged/synched it last night and this morning it is skipping again.  Crap!

Thanks for letting me know that. I was going to give it a try tonight. Guess it's almost a fix if you want to do these each time you sync. I hope they figure it out soon.
