Ok, for anyone have problems with their zune itself, just reset it for good measure. It doesn't hurt the zune, and it often saves questions and time wasted Here are the button commands: some things reset could do is fix "ghosted" pictures that are stuck in your zune. Also, these buttons can help turn on your zune. If your zune is frozen, reset should do the trick. Often times, many of the questions on this tech forums are solved by the reset button. okies *EDIT* for you zune version 2's out there..who want to delete everything off your zune. To restore the Zune device software, follow these steps: 1. Set the Hold Switch to unlocked. 2. Press and hold the Back button Back at the same time as you press and hold the top of the Zune Pad. When the Zune device begins to power up, release the buttons. 3. Immediately after you release the buttons in step 2, press and hold the following special button combination, depending on your Zune model: ? If you have the 4GB Zune, the 8GB Zune, or the 80GB Zune, immediately press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press both the left side of the Zune Pad and the Play/Pause button. Continue to hold these buttons until your Zune device restarts and "Please wait" appears on the screen. ? If you have the 30GB Zune, immediately press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press both the left side of the Zune pad and the center of the Zune pad. Continue to hold these buttons until your Zune device restarts and "Please wait" appears on the screen.
Note "Clearing contents. Please wait" appears, followed by ?Connect Zune to your PC." 4. After ?Connect Zune to your PC? appears, connect the Zune device to the computer that has the current Zune software installed, and then update the device to the current Zune device software. NOTE that all the other functions are the same.[This topic will remain sticky for a short time and will then be combined with the master sticky list.]

Is "reset" the same as powering off then back on? Both show the zune boot screen & status bar...or does "reset" do something at a deeper level than even powering it off?

lol. No, it's like a computer's reset. It basically turns it off, and then turns it on again. It's the same thing as on/off, but hey, people don't even know how to really turn off their zune All they do is put it to sleep.... rock-a-bye zuney, in the zune case....

BTW - the fact that you are going to cross 1000 posts (probably today) in under 3 weeks as a member has me in awe.

The instructions above are for the Zune 30 only. The new Zunes use a different button combination. Maybe you should fix it before you sticky it?

Correct, the "Soft Reset (erase all content)" option on the Z80 is: 1) Reset - Back + Up 2) Then immediately - Back + Right + Play/Pause
