And low and behold its a black iPod Classic 80gb.  When I was in Best Buy I looked around at the other players, the sold no creatives in the store, the only choices with iPods, Zunes, Insignas, Samsung and Sony.  So when looking at which had everything available in store (I despise UPS) I went with the iPod.  I more than likely will regret this decision but I will let you all know down the road.  I do like the weight and feel of the device thus far.

samsung would have been a wiser choice if you were convinced of your decision to defect from MS

i still maintain, however, that you'll return

So very sad, not for you leaving Zune, but for you buying the iPod. It'll crash in less than a year, so not to worry.

Ouch.  iPod classic.   True it has some nice features missing from the Zune, but the iTunes software is not very conducive for interacting with a media collection.

+1, I have always hated iTunes, even back when the little icon was green. I will never buy anything from apple, I mean cmon, their laptops run basically on firmware...

I love my 8GB 3rd gen Nano.  If the Zune 2.5 software could sync with it, it would be perfect.

The nice thing is the support for the iPod has programs other than iTunes I can use but I will tell you how my first experience with the iTunes software in over 3 yrs will go.  I am going to rent a movie tonight.

I don't think you know what you're talking about. What laptop on earth doesn't run on firmware on the hardware level?
