I swear - I'm going crazy. I want to throw my Zune against the wall. After being dropped when it happened to be out of it's protective case (lucky me, right?), it started freezing in the middle of songs. It only freezes on songs, not videos or pictures. Anywho, I tried reseting it, and that didn't work. So, I posted on the forums here to try to figure things out. I was told to reset the firmware. So, I did this. My Zune is now empty of all data, but IT WILL NOT SYNC WITH MY COMPUTER!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!! I'M SOOOOO FRUSTRATED!!!

That's hilarious and all guys, but I'm serious. How can I get it to sync w/ my computer. It reset the firmware and all that - now it just won't sync. Please, can i have some real help. And, for the record, it was working fine after I dropped it. It was several days, maybe a week later, that it started to freak out and freeze on me.

if you removed the firmware you must update the Zune with the latest firmware before trying to add any media.
did you reinstalled the firmware ?

You confused me right there.
If it successfully reset the firmware then it had to have been connected to your computer so what exactly do you mean when you say it won't sync?

did you reinstalled the firmware ?
Okay - here's what I did... I reset the firmware on my Zune, it said "plug into computer" (or whatever) and I followed all of the steps. Then, my Zune said "complete" or whatever, but my computer did not. I let it sit for nearly 20 mins and nothing was happening w/ the computer software. So... I unplugged. I did not get an error on either side. So, I plugged my Zune back in to sync it. It got to 13%, then froze - the computer said "Zune is disconnected" or something of the sorts. And, now, it just won't work. I kept trying to sync it throughout the day, and it wasn't even recognizing that the Zune was plugged in. Now, it'll recognize the Zune, but it won't sync my files. It keeps popping up w/ a Read Error. It says "The Zune software can't access important data on your Zune. Try disconnecting and reconnecting it. If the problem persists, contact customer support."

Doesn't sound like a hardware problem which is good.
If you go into your Windows Control Panel and look at the Hardware screen are there any yellow problems detected?
Does the Zune itself show up?
You might want to select the Zune and tell it to update the driver.
Or remove the driver and let Windows reinstall it next time you connect.

And if that doesn't work I'd probably try a re-install of the Zune software.

from everything you described it sounds like the HDD is damaged to me. I would just call zune tech and arrange a replacement.

Yah, that's a great plan and all, but my Zune is out of warantee. How much is it gonna cost me to get a replacement or a repair??

(and yah, Xune's comment was funny and all, just not helpful)
