Finally a new version that works!! Since the Zune Team opened up the software a bit by introducing the ability to show your now playing info on Windows Live Messenger the developer just released a version that now fetches the current track info directly from the software and automatically submits them to Last.fm. Zuse is a tool for submitting your recently listened tracks from the Zune software to Last.fm. Zuse now gets it's now playing information directly from the desktop software. Compatible with Zune 3.0. http://www.last.fm/group/ZuseDownload Zuse 2.0 beta 3 here:http://code.google.com/p/zuse/downloads/listNEW VERSION!!! Zuse beta 4 - works with the Last.fm client!! - you can now rate and tag songs using Zuse!Note: You may need to install the .NET Framework 2.0 and possibly the Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2005 Redistributable package (Visual Studio Express 2008 works too). From Beta 3 onwards, Zuse will use the .NET 2.0 Framework. If you do however decide to download Beta 1 or 2 you will need .NET 3.0 Framework. Beta 3 instructions: Download the latest version of Zuse. Use Winzip or Winrar to unzip the contents of the folder to the desktop or wherever you choose. Open Zuse.exe and enter your Last.fm name and password then click Test, then OK. Open Zuse again and it will automatically scrobble tracks as you play them in the Zune software. Zuse will scrobble every track that plays including songs you skip so keep this in mind if you don't want those scrobbled. Just remove them from your profile if this happens. Beta 4 instructions: Download Zuse and use Winzip or Winrar to unzip the contents of the folder to the desktop or wherever you choose. Open your Last.fm client software, open Zuse.exe, and then open the Zune software and start playing music (I don't believe you necessarily have to open those in that exact order). With beta 4 Zuse now relies on the Last.fm to scrobble so you have to enter your user name and password through the client. You can now also rate and tag songs using the Last.fm client and as usual you can read the artists bio and all other related info. If you find any bugs please post them at the issues page on Google Code: http://code.google.com/p/zuse/issues/listPlease be specific when reporting bugs or errors. Issues cannot be fixed without detailed instructions on how to reproduce the error.

Forgot to mention that this is a new version (released yesterday) that scrobbles from the software instead of using the zune.net data.
If you report that bug it'll help the dev get a more stable release.
I have it working on my laptop but my work pc is having problems too. I'm installing Visual C++ now to see if that's a requirement since he says "you may need it" lol.

I figured when I checked the Zuse last.fm group. This is real good stuff. I'd send the guy some money if I had some.

This is so awesome!!! It just scrobbles automatically. I only wish he would allow it to start when you launch the Zune software but no biggie.
I've found that it will log every track you play even if you skip a track. Keep that in mind if you don't want some songs on your charts, you can just remove them later if some get through.

is it possible to create just a straight-up plugin? i like the improvements with zuse, but i don't think i'll use the zune software as my main media player untill i can have a plugin running in the background.

It shouldn't be too hard at all, just need someone to do it. While I think it's a great idea it's not that hard to start Zuse, then the Zune software... it only takes a second.

I am kinda confused, and its probably because I dont have a zune or use its software. But whats the big deal with this? Am I missing something? What does this actually do other then record your plays for the sport of music listening?

Zuse is just a tool for submitting playcounts from the Zune software to Last.fm, that's it. But you have to understand what Last.fm is to get any benefit from it. Last.fm used to be called Audioscrobbler and is a social music site. It's similar to the Social but light years ahead of it. You create your own profile, listen to music and it logs your plays. So you can either use it for checking your listening habits and others music tastes among other things such as: Make playlists of your favorite tracks, playlists from tracks that are available on Last.fm's database, listen to their internet radio stations (tag radio, similar artist radio, personal radio), stream full tracks and albums and tons of other things. One of the main reasons I use it for is to discover new artists. Think of it as a more social Pandora with all kinds of useful features.
I would recommend visiting the site and browsing around, listen to their radio, and listen to similar artists radio of your fav bands.

Yeah I love this program, I only don't like the fact that it scrobbles the song the second it's played. I also wish I could scrobble the songs I listen to on my Zune.

A tool for that is surely coming.

A tool for that is surely coming. It won't come unless the author can decypher the Zune library database. Unfortunately Microsoft does not make that information available. When I wrote my MoodyZune tool, I had to do it completely in the dark.
