Sorry for the huge delay. As some of you know I went on a long trip to Italy and have been MIA since. Well I got engaged on my trip and have been pretty busy with all the stuff that comes along with that since. Not to mention the fact that my Zune is currently out of commission, I am receiving USB Device Not Recognized errors. This led to me having less interest in putting out an update. Anyways on to the stuff you care about, a version of the Customizer that works with the new Zune Software:

Just a note before I start, because of the way I handled the custom colors last release, it will have remembered all your settings, so if you left it off on the Dark Zune Theme it will go back to that or if you left it off with DarkGray being red it'll go back to that, etc.

Changes:
  • Added an option to set the Pink Color value and made the defaults for the two Dark Themes.
  • Created some images to better suit the Dark Themes
    • Brand Tag (the stupid box up by the top left)
    • Default Profile Image
    • Slider images
    • Mute buttons
    • Info Bubbles (for example see MixView mouseovers)
    • Now Playing Images updated
    • Dark Zune Theme Search Images updated
    • Left Arrow image in the settings menu

As always any feature requests, comments, etc are welcome. Also didn't know if I should start this as a new thread or just add on to the old one, but I figured this would be better. If I was wrong please merge this with the other thread. Thanks.

For installation instructions, to leave feedback, report bugs, request new feature, and anything else please see this thread: http://forum.darkzune.com/zune-hacks/zune-id-2173-zune-software-customizer-version-3-1-0-a.html

Yayyyy!!!! Thanks so much sable. Lookin forward to all the new changes. I've already went ahead and made all kinds of changes to my personal theme but I always like to use your Customizer as the base to work from.

Mmmm I don't think you can in the Customizer. You'd have to extract the image and edit it then reinsert it. I suppose if you want it bad enough I can fix it for you?

I love all the changes I'm seeing so far sable. lol @ the old back arrow, I like it.

Cool, if you need any help with it let me know.

Sable, I was hoping you would've used the code I found to make the progress bar longer. Maybe in a new update? And what about some other things like the size of the albums in both artists view and albums view, and also in the now playing land? Pretty minor stuff but would be cool nonetheless. I can't believe your customizer isn't more popular seeing as that all things Zune are "you make it you". I just discovered Zune Insider posted both Dark Zune's and Zuneboards custom background hacks last year. I think Cesar needs to be made aware of yours, maybe I'll let him know.

Bard what do you mean? In albums view there are no artists listed except when you hover over albums.

I hadn't really had a chance to look at any of the new cool things that you've changed to be honest. I definitely will look into them when I get a chance though. I like the longer bar a lot. I emailed Cesar about it once but he never made a post about or replied to my email Sad

Also about your question, if you look at PageBackground.UIX in ZuneMarketplaceResources.dll you will see a FullOverlayImage and a StripOverlayImage, the images they refer to need to be replaced. I believe I just opened them in gimp and changed it to grayscale. Dark.Background.Fade.png

I'll take a look. I have no doubt some of the color changing is broken as I didn't get a chance to test it out as well as I wanted too, so I'm kinda relying on peoples reports on what isn't working right. I just noticed that the text under the custom color sliders isn't updating correctly and have fixed that so thats one thing that will go into another build.

EDIT: Just looked, for the specific color you are talking about it should be MarketplacePageTitle however that doesn't seem to be updating it correctly, so I'll definitely take a look at that this weekend.

YAY!  I'm so happy this was released.  And I do think it would be cool if you added settings to adjust the size of the now playing information (names/album art) and the progress bar.

names is already in there, under settings->display Custom Font Size section, but yeah the progress bar and the album art look much better larger.

Thanks for the answer sable. I'm pretty sure dman meant the artist and album title under the albums. In the past I've made them larger but now I don't mind their default size but recently I've included the year after the artist title (always hated that to know the year of an album I had to go through a few steps):

Threw ^that one in there to compare with the one I've been modding the last few weeks. You can see how I expanded the entire library margins and enlarged the main headers (collection, marketplace, etc. - music, videos, etc.), enlarged the now playing thumbnail (next to progress bar), longer progress bar and volume, and maybe a few o0ther minor tweaks.

Also sable not sure if this is something you might want to consider in a future update: Make the now playing land album grid disappear? I'm probably the only person that would want it though.... I just don't like all the small album art, I prefer a dark background:

Obviously I've made other changes but you get the point.

Looks amazing, thanks for the update, btw have you managed to fix the bugs found. Had a look at your other post on your website ans says you were going to do something about the bugs. Just wondering if you fixed them.

Going to download this software when i get home. At college atm. Smiley
