Hell YEAH!

I have just got the fix for EVERYONE that cannot get the album art to show up on their actual ZUNE device. This is not about the library, just the actual device.

When you are in the Zune Software, you have to Select all the tracks for the specific album you want to have artwork with, go to Edit Track Info.

Choose Picture, then find/place/copy whatever picture you want in there, and make sure to choose USER DEFINED in the drop down box. This will solve all of your problems. I just checked and double checked and it works for me no matter what.

Didn't work for me.  I removed the album from my device, went to my library, followed the steps above, then manually synced the album.

Did you make sure to go to each individual track of the album, and right click it in the Zune software, choose edit Track Info, go to Pictures, and remove every image attached, then manually add your own image there and choose user defined in the drop-down box?

I did it on every track and no dice for me. Wish MS would get off their butt and fix this already.

Blaxer, are you syncing the tracks onto the Zune and the tracks are already on there?

Just want to make sure. I make sure the Zune has no tracks from that album, then I do the User Defined thing in the Zune software, and then sync that album to my zune and it puts the artwork. Mind you, up until last night, It wasn't doing this for me ever. No artwork at all.

The only other thing I can think of is that my Zune had to do a clock update with my computer because the times were off. So maybe that triggered the artwork working.

Me neither.  If even it did that's not an acceptable solution, it'd take forever to update to save a file of every album cover and assign it manually.  Good try though.

For those of you that have album art displayed in the software, but is not getting to the device during sync, there are a few things you can try:

1. Make sure that the PC you are attempting to sync from has been individualized.  You can do that from http://services.wmdrm.windowsmedia.com/i...ndivit.asp Note that if you cannot indiv correctly there is something wrong with the DRM components on you PC and you may be able to resolve by checking WMDRM newsgroup postings for solutions.  This was a requirement in the v1 RTM zune software that has been mitigated in the next zune software update (x-mas time).  If your box does not individualize correctly you will not get art using the v1 RTM software, period.  If you cannot indiv it is not a Zune software\device issue and is a WMDRM issue so Zune support folks won't be able to help (been there done that)

2. Delete the album from the device and try to re-sync it.

Note that if you are using the hack to copy content to the device from explorer I don't think you will ever get art to display on the device.

-- This was posted on Zuneboards. give that a try.

Hey monkstah I'm pretty interested in this issue too but I don't have a Zune yet so just trying to do everything I can to make sure art will transfer when I sync. This thread's quite interesting http://www.zunescene.com/forums/index.php?topic=2977.0
I've found on my computer that Zune software isn't that reliable at displaying artwork already embedded in mp3s and it's actually easier to regulate in Windows Media Player (Advanced Tag Editor; Pictures Tab). It has also been suggested that different USB sockets work differently and for some people a USB 2.0 socket is more/less likely to transfer album art than the lower speed ones. Don't know how much truth there is to that. It is hugely frustrating that there doesn't seem to be any logic to why some people can and some can't (although it seems like the majority have no problems)

I've been updating album art by 'change album info' or copying and pasting and yeah, it does update on it's own if I leave the Zune software on.  The problem I have is that the Zune doesn't update the album art immediately on the device.  I'm even on a second zune and I experience the same thing.

However, I can get all of my album art to show if I leave the Zune connected to the PC for at least 10-15 minutes, even overnight.  Have you guys tried updating and leaving it connected for while?

Yep. I always left mine hooked up overnight. Never once saw a piece of album art on it.

I may try the wmdrm link tonight, but if that doesn't work, I'm giving up and returning my Zune. It's actually already all boxed up and ready to be sent back to Amazon, so I'll have to unpack it to try that fix.

Doesn't seem to do anything for me. The button just stays greyed out. Oh well.

Eenteresting...  I go there in IE, the button stays grayed out but there's an error on the page (look at the status bar.)  Double clicking shows the error message is "A security upgrade is required to perform the operation on this media file."  Investigating...

I found "Windows Rights Management Services Client with Service Pack 2 (KB917275)" on Microsoft Update under Optional Updates and installed it, but that didn't do anything.  Any other ideas?

Browsing the source of that page, it dies on this line:

Code:
version = netobj.GetDRMVersion();

netobj is this:

Code:
<OBJECT name= netobj classid=clsid:A9FC132B-096D-460B-B7D5-1DB0FAE0C062 height=0 id=netobj width=0>

Searching for that class ID in the registry turns up RMGetLicenseClass, which is managed by C:\WINDOWS\system32\msnetobj.dll.  Investigating...

Crud.  Thought the download in this article would upgrade it, but I guess not.
