I'm trying to figure out the best way to input and control the zune in my Element. Most importantly I don't want to have to plug in the power then the 1/8" jack. If I buy any old dock available I have to control off the face of the zune, my stock stereo can control an Icrap but obviously not the zune. It has an AUX in, so my plan is to use the zune dock powered by a dc adapter, then run the a/v cable for audio only to my AUX in. So all I have to do is set my zune in the dock and control with the remote. And the dock will then also charge.
I have searched but I didn't want to and don't know why anyone would use an Ipod dock then convert that to the zune.

Sweet someone has already done it, and everything sounds like it works great. Hopefully the zune will stay in the dock snugly and won't fly or bounce out. Now I just have to buy the a/v kit.

What did you use the mount it on the dash? Nice job, friend.
I use a Dock in my Car, also. But I have it set on top of one of the cup holders, held in place by Velcro.

It is held down by industrial type velcro, I got it at radio shack. It's like velcro you know the hook and loop stuff but it's two of the hook sides(the plastic side). It works very good for me.

I was thinking about using the dock in my truck like that..........does the zune pop out when you hit potholes and bumps?

nope it has never moved. Obviously I drive an Element not a zo6 vette, and not off road either. I did floor it went from 45 - 90 today to pass a pos scion xb, and it didn't move. Maybe from a dead stop it might move a 1/4 of an inch.

We have a song for that here in Kansas city, it's the pothole slide, parody of cha cha slide
We have crazy drivers and potholes here to, it's not a problem for the dock!

Nicely done!
How hard was it to hide the wires? I also have an Element ('03 EX) and your solution looks perfect!

With both upper dash pieces(their blue on mine) off you can see about 3/4" gap above the stereo. So I just fished the wires across. And I filed the edges of the panels so that the wires wouldn't get pinched. Really easy actually I thought I was going to have to actually remove the stereo or a/c controls. It took about 30 - 45 mins. And I stopped to take a lot of pics to post. By the way spark26981 have you heard of are you a part of elementownersclub.com? I'm on there under the same name.

I live in New York as well, and im really curious how the Zune dock handles the Zune in aggressive driving situations: sharp turns, jackrabbit accelerations, etc...
Also, did you drill two holes for the wires to hide behind your dock? Picture does not clearly show how you hid those wires.
Sweet setup, looks really clean, probably going to do the same thing in my Subaru Legacy Outback.
