Well I'm going to be all out honest. I usually am when it comes to my opinion on electronics..
I was not a follower of the iPad. The iPad (1, or original), was something I could never see the sense of using. I found it as simply an over-sized iPod touch. I found quite literally almost no use to it that you wouldn't have from an iPod touch, or iPhone for that matter.. other than the obvious screen size.
I'm still not so keen on the whole iOS operating system considered as a "Tablet Computer". But I have come to accept with this variation of the iPad that they have focused on what they know what the iPad is.
I am amazed by the speedy performance of the iPad 2 with videos showing it currently.. and how well everything with the iPad works together. Taking a picture with photobooth, sharing it on facebook, sending it to a friend via email, sending it to your printer to print.. etc.
It just works well.. beyond well. It works perfectly, for what its intended for.
All other "tablets" keep themselves too open for expansion that its like they don't focus enough on what they intend their product to be primarily used for, so you are left with a good experience, but your left with open holes in functionality and design.
iPad 2 brings the standard features we were all expecting, faster performance, hd camera, facetime camera, in a thinner package.
I just believe that this product is something that when combined with the right apps, and tools, its something quite flawless in most means. The HDMI adapter.. just a brilliant idea for quick presentations.
I'm glad apple has found their sweet spot, and have properly found what this product is for and how its being used.
I never liked the iPad, but the iPad 2 has changed my opinion on the iPad name, and would gladly purchase an iPad 2, if given the chance.
The iPad sold a lot of units, I'm seeing the iPad 2 surpassing the original iPad in sales.
/obviously this is all based on my initial impression.

Wow well said. I personally love my iPad. I do see this update as more than just a slight upgrade. It is quite a refinement that actually managed to surprise me. The mag-cover is pretty darn cool. And I didn't think there would be a rear camera.
I read enough about the actual systems requirements to run the same pixel density as on the iPhone 4 and it was absurd! Something like a 1.5 gig video processor would be required. I knew that wouldn't happen this time around, but backlit rather than side lit will make a big difference!

Wow, let me dish out another $40 dolllars for a HDMI cable adapter. LOL. Ripoff.
Do like the thinner, round profile with same battery life.

With the new iPad, can someone now watch those videos that are on a website? I think that it's called flashplayer (or something)...
With the first generation iPad, when I used to go to some sites and a video was availbale to view, after I was clicking to watch it, an X was instead to the video and a phrase, I forgot what it said.
Any way, is there that function now fixed?

Nope. Never. Its not a fix, Apple made a decision to not run "Flash"(certain videos). The two companies are arguing.

You are entitled to your opinion but your opinion makes no sense to me. The iPad 2 is more of a giant iPod than the original iPad was.... Particularly since the hardware upgrade tracked with the iPod Touch 4G. The performance of the iPad is exceptional. Sure the iPad 2 is faster, but to imply that the iPad's speed is deficient is misleading. The HDMI adapter is not iPad2-specific.... The VGA adapter was available for the iPad, it now can use the HDMI adapter as well. There is something that softened your opinion of the iPad in general, but the minor upgrade doesn't appear to be the reason....because your reasons for disliking the iPad are still applicable to the iPad2

So where are all of these Flash videos I can't watch? Youtube alone is 40%+ of all web videos and they work fine without Flash NetFlix (which isn't Flash) works fine without Flash Hulu works fine without flash Every news site imaginable has a mobile site that streams without Flash and a podcast that can be downloaded directly.

Don't they announce iOS rollout with the iPhone/iPod release?
The big annual iOS update normally releases in the summer with the new iPhone, but we get a preview in the spring (so developers have time to get their apps ready for the new features). ...so, any of you ordered the iPad 2?
No orders or sales until next Friday. Wow, let me dish out another $40 dolllars for a HDMI cable adapter. LOL. Ripoff.

I think they expect most users will forgo old fashioned wires and use AirPlay to stream video.

Its still overpriced. Witnessed by $40 dongles, $40 covers and needing to buy apps, now your paying more than a comparable Xoom. Still no SD memory expansion. Finally a HDMI hookup and a front facing camera. And the closed enviroment is nice for schools that dont want kids thinking for themselves, but we aint in school no more. And not to be let off the hook, the Xoom is screwed for pushing the contract model.

This is the year we will see most websites abandon flash 100%. With Apple owning 90+% of the new computing standard Flash is going the way of the dinosaur. Good riddance and good grief bye bye mortgage ads.
Edit: if you dont like the dongle don't buy it. The $40 is on par with why HDMI and HDCP would inflate the price to. Blame them.

Thinner, faster, 2 cameras, same battery life, same price. No price drop.
While the iPad 2 comes in at the same prices as the iPad, the iPad is now 20% less. The Apple Care for the iPad is also discounted 20%. iPads now start at $399

As cool as it is, What about those that just blew their wad and cant invest more money into a system that uses Airplay? I know, if you cant afford a set of speakers that we get license fees for we'll charge you $40 bucks for a dongle instead...

hamr I think you're getting a little too worked up over this whole dongle thing. I bought the $30 USB camera dongle with my iPad along with about $300 worth of other accesories. I'm not bragging, I'm just saying people expect to pay for these things when they buy tech. You buy a phone you also buy a case, an extra charger, a hip case, a good set of headphones, bluetooth handsfree, car charger etc etc etc. Seriously dude this is not the first time an accesory has been made.

Its still overpriced. Witnessed by $40 dongles, $40 covers and needing to buy apps, now your paying more than a comparable Xoom. Still no SD memory expansion. Keep in mind that the HDMI adapter is a mirrored output as well.. Something that the 3rd party manufacturers were charging hundreds of dollars for. Even the cheapest VGA mirrored adapter sold for $89.99 at RadioShack. I'd say that an HDMI mirrored output adapter for 39.00 is a very good price. Apple also has some of the least expensive 6ft length HDMI cables as well: 19.00. The cheapest HDMI I found at Walmart starts at 34.96. $39 covers for either the existing iPad case or the new magnetic covers is quite affordable as well. 99% of all cases for the existing iPad are over $40, with most averaging $50-70. And not as innovative or thin as the ones made by Apple. SD card expansion doesn't make sense on an iPad. First, the iPad would see it as a separate drive for starters. Two, it would only recognize 32GB external segments anyways. And thirdly, there's an SD card/USB adapter for those who want it. I've personally never needed this adapter, but it's there if I need it; since the iPad already comes with it's own 30pin to USB and syncing photos, the main use for SD cards, its simple to transfer data wired or wireless. I haven't used an SD card in over a year and a half. Photos from my camera and my iPhone sync to my iPad wirelessly. There is also no 'need' to buy apps. The $4.99 applications are a fraction of what they cost on disc, and are easier to use than their more expensive counterparts. Show me where I can get comparable music or movie editing software for less, and I'll agree with you that they're expensive. Getting this kind of software designed for touch interfacing for under 5 bucks is incredibly cheap, and well beyond anything available available in the Android store for any price. Specs aren't everything. Usefulness and value are far more important in determining if the Xoom holds a candle to the vastly superior functionality of the iPad and it's more than 65,000 tablet specific applications. Never mind the other 300,000 iPhone/iPod touch applications that are also compatible. Applications like iMovie or GarageBand bring to tablet computing are far more useful to a creative user and more importantly, it brings professional quality applications to an easy to use and easy to afford level. GarageBand and iMovie are based on award winning and industry standard software, Final Cut and Studio. That's not applications I have to buy.. those are applications I want to buy. For less than five bucks.. you betcha.
