Atari Is Making an Arcade Joystick for the iPad
BY CASEY CHAN SEP 6, 2011 11:40 AM

We think the iCade is quite the awesome. Atari obviously thinks so too because they're making their own version. Called the Atari Arcade Duo Powered, it gives your iPad a classic arcade joystick and buttons to play classic Atari games.

Games like Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command, etc. are infinitely more fun and nostalgic when played with the joystick. There's no details on how it works but it's probably similar to the iCade in that it connects to the iPad through Bluetooth. Judging from the bare bone looks of the Atari iOS controller, it might even be cheaper than the $100 price of the iCade. Available soon. [Discovery Bay Games via MacRumors]

Update: Retail price is $60. Not bad.

I am surprised no one else has done this. Make a standard button set that developers can use when making their games. Have the option of standard touch control or some sort of connected controller like the one above. I would play FPS on the iPad if I had actual controls, I hate touch for that.

Fps is a pain on the iPad, so are most games that use the gyroscope.

Have a Fling with your iPad
Fling is a joystick for iPad. It gives you controls you can touch for any game that has an on-screen joystick.

Fling's patent pending design provides auto-centering and force feedback.   Once you start gaming with Fling, you'll never go back.

?Playing dual stick shooters using the Fling is, in a word, glorious.? - TouchArcade.com

?Fling doesn?t just improve your scores, it finally makes the iPad feel like a bona fide gaming device.? - AppleTell

I have a pair of these. Love 'em.
