Hello all - this is my first post here, and I'm in need of some help...

After replacing the battery on my Zune, the key lock switch hasn't been right.  It's "stuck" in the off/lock position.

I have the back cover off, and the switch is in plain view; I can physically move the switch from lock to on - but there is still no change in the operation.  The lock icon is still displayed, and the keys are not responsive at all.

Is there any way to bypass this switch?  Can I manually verify that the switch is in the "play" position?

I know that the new battery is functioning, as the screen is appearing normally after being disconnected from the charger.  That's not the issue.  It's the switch, I believe....but can I get around the switch?  Can I manually get it to the "play" position?

I need some help...it's pretty much worthless if I can't get this thing to play.

Hey Unicron - thanks for the replay.

Are you asking me to pop off the back cover?  And move the switch - physically/manually - by hand?

I've done that.  I know the switch is where it should be...but still getting nothing.

If I order the replacement switch, what does that entail?  I see the part over at repairuniverse.com, but I'm not sure that's what I need.  Any thoughts?

Isn't the switch button wired into the headphone jack and accompanying circuitry?

Does it/will it come off?  I have pulled it away from the mounting position a bit, but the flat circuitry is still holding the switch.  Can I get it off even further without damaging it?

Here's a link to the part that I'm talking about:

Appreciate your help with this, btw -

does the switch have a outer cover that fits over it that might be on the wrong way, like upside down or something?

It does have a cover that fits over the switch, but it's completely off right now.  I'm trying to move the switch manually...and have done so - but it's still completely unresponsive.

Any other thoughts?
