The Brydge iPad Dock & Keyboard is an iPad keyboard dock that transforms your iPad into a laptop. Good idea! Brydge was launched as a Kickstarter project. Check out the video, Cool.

"Brydge is an elegant solution to the lack of quality iPad keyboards and accessories currently on the market. Made from aerospace-grade aluminum, with optional stereo speakers, Brydge connects to your iPad using a patent-pending hinge. This click-in hinge allows for close to 180 degrees of iPad positioning and holds your iPad secure."

Eh?  Dont they already make laptops? And isnt it the point of a tablet to not be a laptop?

Question, why?

Keyboard cases like these are designed for iPad users who don't have the need for the additional power/capabilities of the MacBook but wish to have a tactile keyboard built into a laptop type configuration.

'They' don't make laptops, but they can turn an iPad into one. :p
Agreed on the point of the tablet, but if one can have the option, 3rd party keyboard manufacturers like Brydge feel they can provide the solution to a problem most of us don't have. For this market to exist, however, there must be enough people who compose a lot of text on their iPads and prefer the option of a physical keyboard when needed.

I suppose, if I were writing papers on my iPad for school, I would invest in a keyboard case such as this one from Brydge or the thin one just released from Logitech.

I know people buy iPads and get an external keyboard. As a matter of fact my own dad did. I just think it's silly having owned an ipad since the first-generation one I rarely if ever use a physical keyboard for the thing. Part of it's appeal, actually it's main appeal is that it doesn't have a physical keyboard and there's less for you to take around with you. But clearly there will always be a market for people who just don't get it. My dad included.

When Hybrids came out the fanboy club jumped all over what a rediculous idea it was and now we are supposed to say Wow? Not.

On the other hand its funny how people need to buy something to make it more like the laptop they thumb their noses at.
