Come June 22nd, Cricket will be selling the iPhone and offering a $55 month-to-month unlimited voice, text and data plan.

That's right. No contract, no nothing. Just buy an iPhone 4S or 4 for $500 (16GB model) or $400 (8GB model) from Cricket and you can have an "unlimited" voice, text and data plan by prepaying 55 bucks a month.

That's a pretty good deal! Combing through the fine line though, you'll notice that "unlimited" data actually means up to 2.3GB a month, which at the very least, is more than what Verizon's data cap offers.

I checked out Cricket's coverage in my area, and it's pretty solid from what I see on their website's coverage maps.

Those who want a prepaid iPhone on other carriers can still buy straight from Apple and bypass the contract.

I've been month-to-month on all of my iPhones since they first launched, and now that Cricket is partially subsidizing the initial cost of a new iPhone w/o contract, I see even more people who'll consider skipping the contract.. especially when combined with a reasonable monthly service rate that you could cancel anytime.

I've used Cricket for years before switching to an iPhone, and was very happy with service and rate plans. Given the additional perk of unlimited talk, text, and data, I think that Cricket will sell a ton of these.

Ok, it irks me quite a bit to say 'unlimited' data when yu only get 2.3gb. How can they get away with saying that if it's not unlimited? No legal BS can explain away an outright lie.

Whether it's Sprint, AT&T, or Verizon's unlimited, they all start throttling the data speeds after a certain amount of data used in a month, but nonetheless, it's unlimited data.
