HOW TO : Install the Zune Software on a Non-English O/S

So, there is a new Zune software and the old fix to install the software on a Non-English O/S won't work anymore. But, there is a new fix. Here it is for all international Zune lovers.

This fix solves the Error Code : 0X80070002 (Missing "Watson" installation package) that will be displayed if you use Windows XP (I don't know about windows vista) in a language other than English. Here is a screenshot of the displayed error message in french.


STEP 1 :
Download the Zune software from Zune.net website and chose "Save As" to save the file on your disk at a location you'll remember.

STEP 2 :
When it is download, use Winrar to extract the content of the installation package. I have also extracted the package for those of you who don't want to install Winrar, you can download it at http://rapidshare.com/files/75293006/zunesetuppkg-x86.zip

STEP 2 :
In the extracted folder, find the file named Zune-x86.msi, located in the packages folder, and run it (you can also use Zune-fr.msi or Zune-es.msi if you want to install the software in french of in spanish).



STEP 3 :
Wait for the non-fancy installation box to end and close by itself. You should now see a new shortcut to the Zune software on your desktop.


STEP 4 :
The Zune software is now installed and working. Have fun.

METHOD TO INSTALL THE ORIGINAL ZUNE SOFTWARE ON A NON-ENGLISH O/S. THIS WON'T WORK ANYMORE WITH THE NEW SOFTWARE.

I know I said I would create this like a week ago but I didn't have enough time (and I didn't have my computer or internet neither) so here it is. This method should work on any non-english windows xp pro or home edition with the latest updates. This will also help you to create a Zunetag if you live outside the US. All steps are represented by pictures taken from my computer and I blured my name out of them. Thx to musiczune.de for the dos commands. Enjoy!


STEP 1 :

Check your windows username (you can see when you click the start menu, it's in the upper-left corner, next to your picture), then open the command prompt by clicking the Start button, then Run. You'll see the dos windows appear, now you need to enter the following lines. Each time you have one completly written, press enter and make sure the message says it worked. So here is what you write (the word "username" in red should be replaced with your username) :

net localgroup INTERACTIVE /add
net localgroup USERS [color=red]username[/color] /add               
net localgroup INTERACTIVE [color=red]username[/color] /add

You should get what you see on the picture in your O/S language.


STEP 2 :

Get the FULL Zune software installer wich is 48.7mb zipped (link note that this is a rapidshare link, the full installer is also on the Zune CD). Run the ZuneSetup.exe wich is the installer.


Now you get the first page of the installer. It checks for updates and should not find anything, just wait until the greyed "next" button is clickable,

then click on next.


STEP 3:

You have the user agreement to agree (quite simple, isn't it ). Just click I Accept.



STEP 4:

It lives... no it just installs, wait until it reaches 100%... If it doesn't work, you probably messed something up in the first step.



STEP 5:

100% installed, it will now check for your Zune for one minute. If you already have your Zune, plug it now and it should detect it (the following steps may differ a little bit as I did it without a Zune).

If you don't have your Zune, wait a whole minute and the greyed "next" button will change to "skip". Click the Skip button now.



STEP 6:

You will now see the library settings screen.

You can customize those settings now or later as you want. Click Next The software will then check for your music files.

Just let it scan your complete library... or you can do it later.


STEP 7:

It now asks you to create a Zunetag but you won't be able to do it if you are outside the US (you may try and be lucky...).

So just hit Cancel, we'll do it another way.


STEP 8:

Go on www.xbox.com. It will automaticaly switch the xbox page to your country and we don't want that. Check the upper left corner of the page, there is a link called international. Click it and you will see a list of many countries. Chose United States wich is at the bottom of the list (the last country).

You are now back at the home page, but in the US. Click the My Xbox button in the top menu, the click Sign Up. Just follow all the instructions to register an account (you may need to register a live.com email also) and always specify United States when it asks you for a country.


STEP 9:

Open the Zune Software and click on the small picture of someone () wich is the login button.
Then, choose Register a new account. You will now see the page we cancelled before.

Click on Click here to sign in, next to "Already have an Xbox live account or a ZunePass". Enter the email you registered to your Xbox live account.


STEP 10:

You now have the installed Zune software, and a ZuneTag wich is your Xbox Live Tag. Enjoy! It will be ready for your new Zune when you get one, or you can now fully use it . Spread the word, wherever you are, you can now install the Zune software. If you are speaking a foreign language and want to spend some time to translate it, let's go. I will translate it in french when I have some more time but there are still dozens of languages.

Je sais qu'I dit je créerait ceci comme il y a une semaine mais je n'ai pas eu assez de temps (et moi n'a pas eu mon ordinateur ou Internet ni l'un ni l'autre) tellement ici qu'il est. Cette méthode devrait travailler à n'importe quelle édition non-anglaise de xp de fenêtres pro ou à la maison avec les dernières mises à jour. Ceci vous aidera également à créer un Zunetag si vous vivez en dehors des USA. Toutes les étapes sont représentées par des photos prises à partir de mon ordinateur et je blured mon nom hors de elles. Thx à musiczune.de pour les commandes de DOS. Apprécier !


ÉTAPE 1 :

Vérifier votre username de fenêtres (vous pouvez voir quand vous cliquez le menu de début, il est dans le coin upper-left, à côté de votre image), puis ouvrir le message de sollicitation de commande en cliquant le bouton marche, puis la course. Vous verrez les fenêtres de DOS apparaître, maintenant vous le besoin d'écrire les lignes suivantes. Chaque fois que vous faites écrire completly un, la pression entrent et s'assurent le message indique que cela a fonctionné. Tellement voici ce que vous écrivez (le mot « username » dans le rouge devrait être remplacé avec votre username) :

Obtenir vous devriez ce que vous voyez sur l'image dans votre langue d'O/S.


ÉTAPE 2 :

Obtenir le PLEIN installateur de logiciel de Zune que le wich est 48.7mb fermé la fermeture éclair (la note de lien que c'est un lien de rapidshare, le plein installateur est également sur le CD de Zune). Courir le wich de ZuneSetup.exe est l'installateur.


Maintenant vous obtenez la première page de l'installateur. Il vérifie les mises à jour et ne devrait trouver rien, attente juste jusqu'à ce que greyed le « prochain » bouton soit clickable,

puis clic dessus prochain.


ÉTAPE 3 :

Vous avez l'accord d'utilisateur de convenir (tout à fait simple, n'est pas il ). Clic juste que j'accepte.



ÉTAPE 4 :

Elle vit… aucun il installe juste, attente jusqu'à ce qu'elle atteigne 100%… Si cela ne fonctionne pas, vous avez probablement sali quelque chose vers le haut dans la première étape.



ÉTAPE 5 :

100% a installé, il vérifiera maintenant votre Zune pour une minute. Si vous avez déjà votre Zune, le brancher maintenant et il devrait le détecter (les étapes suivantes peuvent différer un peu pendant que je le faisais sans Zune).

Si vous n'avez pas votre Zune, attendre toute une minute et greyed le « prochain » bouton changera en le « saut ». Cliquer le bouton de saut maintenant.



ÉTAPE 6 :

Vous verrez maintenant l'écran d'arrangements de bibliothèque.

Vous pouvez adapter ces arrangements maintenant ou plus tard pendant que vous voulez. Clic après que le logiciel examinera alors pour assurer vos dossiers de musique.

Le laisser juste balayer votre bibliothèque complète… ou toi peut la faire plus tard.


ÉTAPE 7 :

Elle te demande maintenant que créer un Zunetag mais toi ne pourra pas le faire si vous êtes en dehors des USA (vous pouvez essayer et être chanceux…).

Tellement juste annulation frappée, nous la ferons une autre manière.


ÉTAPE 8 :

Aller sur www.xbox.com. Elle commutera automaticaly la page de xbox à votre pays et nous ne voulons pas cela. Vérifier le coin gauche supérieur de la page, il y a un lien appelé international. Le cliquer et vous verrez une liste de beaucoup de pays. A choisi le wich des Etats-Unis est au fond de la liste (le dernier pays).

Vous êtes maintenant en arrière à la page d'accueil, mais aux USA. Cliquer le mon bouton de Xbox dans le menu supérieur, le clic s'inscrivent. Suivre juste toutes instructions d'enregistrer un compte (vous pouvez devoir enregistrer un email de live.com également) et d'indiquer toujours les Etats-Unis quand il te demande un pays.


ÉTAPE 9 :

Ouvrir le logiciel de Zune et le clic sur la petite image de quelqu'un () wich est le bouton d'ouverture.
 Puis, choisir le registre un nouveau compte. Vous verrez maintenant la page que nous avons décommandée avant.

Cliquer sur le clic ici pour signer dedans, à côté de « ont déjà un compte de phase de Xbox ou un ZunePass ». Écrire l'email que vous vous êtes enregistré à votre compte de phase de Xbox.


ÉTAPE 10 :

Vous avez maintenant le logiciel installé de Zune, et un wich de ZuneTag est votre étiquette de phase de Xbox. Apprécier ! Il sera prêt pour votre nouveau Zune quand vous obtenez un, ou vous pouvez maintenant entièrement l'employer . Écarter le mot, partout où vous êtes, vous peut maintenant installer le logiciel de Zune. Si vous parlez une langue étrangère et voulez passer un certain temps pour la traduire, allons. Je la traduirai en français quand j'ai encore plus d'heure mais il y a des douzaines immobiles de langues.

Revisa tu nombre de usuario de Windows (lo puedes ver al hacer click en inicio, está al lado de tu foto).
Anda a INICIO--->EJECUTAR---> escribe cmd y presiona enter. Te va a salir la ventana de DOS.
En esta ventana tienes que escribir estas lineas de a una y presionar enter al termino de cada una de ellas:

net localgroup USERS /add
net localgroup INTERACTIVE /add
net localgroup USERS (tu nombre de usuario) /add               
net localgroup INTERACTIVE (tu nombre de usuario) /add

Luego instala el software del Zune desde el CD de instalación y sigue los pasos. En la parte donde te pide tu ZuneTag presiona cancelar.

Anda a www.xbox.com y en la esquina izquierda superior de la pantalla has click en "Internacional". Vas a ver una larga lista de paises. Elige Estados Unidos que es el último de la lista.
Ahora estás en la página de xbox pero en la versión de Estados Unidos. Clickea el botón "My XBOX" que está en el menu superior, y despues has click en "Sign Up". Rellena la información para crear una cuenta (escribe una direccion de email a la que tengas acceso ya que te llegará un mail para activar la cuenta después) y siempre elige Estados Unidos como el país en donde vives.

Abre el software del Zune y has click en el símbolo de una persona que está cerca de la esquina superior derecha de la pantalla. Luego selecciona "Register a new account" y verás la pantalla en donde presionaste "cancelar" durante la instalación. Has click en "Click here to sign in" e ingresa el la direccion de email que registraste en la página de XBOX.

Ahora ya tienes el software del Zune instalado y con un ZuneTag que será el mismo registrado en la página de XBOX.

hi everyone,  i just wanted to know why in my computer when i open zune.exe , the first part it's ok, it says that it's looking for updates, and after a while it says that there where no updates available, and the only button you can press it's close...

segui tus instrucciones al insertar el comando net localgroup INTERACTIVE /add aparece un mensaje de la cuenta ya existe continuo con el tercer comando insertando mi username y me indica no existe el usuario o grupo global, yo aparezco en la pc como usuario juan miguel y como administrador no se que este pasando te agradezco mucho. saludos

Hey all, I´m having the same problem as the guy above me.

My spanish (chilean) install of XP SP2 won´t allow me to create the INTERACTIVE user group.  When I try to create one it says "account already exists" and when I try to delete it (from DOS prompt) it says no such group exists.

Any thoughts? .... This is driving me nuts!

Alright, here´s an example of INTERACTIVE being a pain (sorry for the Spanish):

As you can see, the first command is /add and Windows says it already exists.  The second command is /delete and Windows says no such group exists.  Hmmmmm.

Any ideas?
