Hey y'all.

I spent some time converting the digital graphic novel (comic) "NYC 2123" this morning.  I used photoshop to batch convert all the images down to Zune's max horizontal 320.  It looks pretty decent.

Here's a link to my blog entry, there's a link to download the zip on there.

Download NYC 2123 Formatted for the Zune

Great Idea! I'm d/ling as I type. I'll be sure and let you know what I think after I watch/read/view it.

Okay, one problem is when I sync them up to my zune, the beginning of each chapter is put at the end. Nota huge problem since the folder is named ISSUE ONE. Just thought I'd let you know.

The Zune community needs more people like you!

Haven't heard of that comic before but the effort is sure appreciated! Thanks!

Same thing with me, the title pic of each issue is listed last.

Also, the one pic that explains how the situation started is hard to read. Could it be done slightly larger?

Don't get me wrong, I think this is great and hope it is done more, just constructive critisizm (or how ever ya spell it lol)

No worries.

Ya, none of the text is easy to read because it was designed to be read on a 480x272 which is about 30% larger than the Zune screen.  I suggested that the images could be resized from the original vectors, but I wasn't able to figure out a batch method for this in Illustrator.  If someone figured that out it would clarify the images a little more but the text would still be small.  You'll have to suffer through the storyboard page for now.  Cool

I'm not sure why the title image is showing up last, are you guys extracting the files from the zip while maintaining the directory structure:

\NYC_2123
\NYC_2123\Issue 1
\NYC_2123\Issue 2
\NYC_2123\Issue 3
\NYC_2123\Issue 4
\NYC_2123\Issue 5
\NYC_2123\Issue 6

?

This will at the least keep the files collected into folders.  If you just open the zip in winzip and dragdrop them all you'll end up w/ a mess.

As far as the order of the images displaying on the Zune, I actually lay out my folders out like this: \Zune Device\Images\Comics\NYC_2123 and have the Zune software look at the Zune Device directory.  Where did you extract the archive to / add to the Zune library search path?

The pictures are going into the library then onto the Zune when doing a sync in the order in which they were modified and since 01.jpg in each issue seems to have been mondified an hour after the others, it ends up being last in sequence. You would think they would be in file name sequence but for some reason they are on last time modified sequence. At least that's what it looks like to me why they are out of order in the Zune.

Ah-ha!  Good catch.  Ok.  I went in and changed the modification time (using this freeware tool) on each title image to be a few seconds before the second image.  I did a sort by modification date and now they are all sequential.  That is very strange that the zune sorts that way, and has no other sorting options.

Regardless, I've uploaded the corrected version to my site.

Thanks a lot for catching that guys.

This is a top for new people / people who missed this first time around.

I also want to add that there is a new comic that is being formatted for the Zune in addition to other devices.  You can download it at www.hitless.com.  It is in full color and looks better than NYC2123 on the Zune.

I was called a 'tard and idiot when I posted a link to a legit mobile download site that has both of these comics as well as numerous other mags and videos. The site is www.perooz.com. After a few on this board realized it's a great site, It was decided I was not mentally insane. I use perooz for my psp also.
